I hope everyone reading this today had a GREAT love day yesterday! Whether you are a fan of the holiday or not I pray you felt loved and special. Whether by a stranger, your significant other, a child or a pet I pray you were blessed.
My two love bugs woke to trail of hearts sending them to their sugar free surprises, cmon they get enough candy at school and such so we opted for a new toy instead! After all after Christmas most toys are on sale!
The kids were ecstatic at their surprises and all the "mess" on the floor and anyone could notice they felt loved. In our house love is not an option, it's what we choose to do. We love, we speak love and we act in love. We mess up, a lot actually, but we LOVE!
A remark from K-love, a point made in Sunday bible class, a sermon quote and the Holy Spirit that dwells in me convicted me of one thing on Monday and that was to make as many folks feel loved that I possibly could on Tuesday. SO....I decided to get my kids on the fun as well.
We found out how many widows and widowers our church had and we made them each a card stating "You are loved!" complete with stamps, hand drawn hearts and stickers. Emmy was so cute while making them she said "this is kind of like team work mommy. It goes a lot quicker when you work together!" Impressive point from my 4 year old! While making the cards I helped facilitate discussion about why this group of people may not feel loved. My kids appeared to understand why we were making the cards and why it might brighten someone's day to get treats unexpectedly.
The next day, after we got Davis off to school we headed to Walmart to find the perfect treats for our Valentines. Emerson was most excited about this part! She picked out pinkish red roses, and boxes of chocolates. She was so excited to give out our goodies, until we reached the first house...We did not know the first person and typically that wouldn't bother her but for some reason she was not real excited about getting out in the rain to see someone she didn't know...see
Still unhappy...
However, once she saw how much this certain lady enjoyed her treats and hugs from her she was ready to go to all of our stops. 18 folks might have been quite ambitious, but 13 people later we ran out of supplies and energy and headed to eat lunch! FYI, we bought plenty, Emmy just helped herself to some and gave away treats to folks she though might need them! She has amazing intuition that girl.
As you can tell she was most excited to see her Meme, who is not a widow, but who was having a procedure at the hospital where one of our widows was.
I could seriously write a book on today and how much I learned, laughed and even cried with these sweet beautiful people who have lost their best friends, help mates and soul mates. I will leave you with a few of my favorite stories from today....
One sweet lady could tell Emmy was impressed with her land line so she grabbed her cell phone and had the sweetest conversation with Emmy on the phone just 5 feet from each other so she could experience talking on a land line. The same lady told me she had lost not one but two husbands. Her best wisdom/advice, "let them grieve, life will get better, you just have to let them find it. And go and set with them, no one wants to be alone." Another kind gentleman wasn't bothered at all by Emerson's inquisitive nature, he let Emerson open and close his microwave a million times...ours is up high and she was very impressed with it! HA! I was quite nervous about what Emmy might say to folks, she is known for speaking her mind and not having a filter, but we had a great day bringing joy to others. I must say I believe I got the most joy out of everyone. There is just something about doing little things to change peoples day. Oh and little miss e is quite the servant, talker and encourager. When I would get turn around or lost driving around Jax she would say "It's ok mom we will find it! If not call dad!" Poor girl knows her mamas faults!
We had a great day and I have enjoyed listening to Emmy tell her daddy and brother about our day. We have received emails, calls and texts about our love that we shared yesterday and Emmy just smiles every time I tell her what the message/call was about. I pray God continues to convict me to love on others! This moment sure has brought on much conversation in my house and I pray it will yours too!
Emmy's class celebrated Valentines on Monday..These are a couple of pics I snagged from her class!
